It’s my birthday. 🎁

Today, I turn 48 years old. 🕯️ 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️

Sure, for now, at the right angle and in good lighting, I look okay “for my age.” (People are always quick to add that last part once you have this many candles on your birthday cake: “You’re beautiful…for your age.” 🙄)

But feelings grow complicated at this point — especially when you’re a female.

It’s a good thing that I was always developing my mind and personality, and that I spent years healing, growing, and realizing that my worth has NOTHING to do with how I look. Most of the world disagrees with this point, but quite frankly: fuck what those people think.

I spent too many years trying to impress people, trying to be attractive to some man or another, always worried that someone wouldn’t like me or the way look. Now, I really don’t give a damn if someone thinks I’m physically beautiful — or if they don’t. So what? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I mean YAWN…how boring. 🥱

I head into another year, and this time around, I’m only worried about being true to myself, surrounding myself with people who actually care about me, and ENJOYING LIFE. 💫 🥂

And man, have I been enjoying my life lately. 👏🏼

For this blog — and to celebrate my birthday — instead of posting a bunch of photos, I’m gonna share my recent vacation and some favorite spring moments via YouTube video. 🎥

For my special day, I like to do things for others — especially giving food to local/neighborhood animals and sharing joy with the people around me. I hope some of YOU can feel the love I’m sending via YouTube, WordPress, and other sites. 💗

I truly wish nothing but good for all of you today, and every day. Most of all, I hope you can learn to hold yourself in high esteem and warm regard…just as you are, no matter your age, where you live, your sex or preferences or race or beliefs…no matter your circumstances.

You deserve love NOT because of what you look like or what awards or accomplishments you’ve achieved, etc. You deserve love and respect SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU EXIST.

You are enough.

I’m gonna go have some birthday cake now…

    I don’t know about poetry much, but I see ironic imagery on the picture of the cake with the number candles, and the moths (I interpret). Thanks for your “fresh air” posts! I do look forward to them, to hearing from you, and benefiting from the wholesome ideas you propagate.
