Lana has defeated Covid! 🎉 And there she is ⬆️, confident and shining on the football field as the head color guard captain of the her college marching band. #RedWolves #HowlYes 🐺
BAM! 💥 TAKE THAT, COVID! 🖕🏼
I’ll be going to see her perform with the A-State Band again soon (unless Covid madness interferes)…I can’t wait! And it’s almost time for my vacation. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
For now, I’m taking the time (and this blog) to say goodbye to the summer. 👋🏼 This year, the autumn equinox falls on September 22nd, which is TOMORROW. So today, I’m sharing my new short film. It’s called, “Goodbye, Summer.”
It’s a bittersweet farewell to both the season and the “summer” of my life, as I stand at the midpoint (middle age) and turn to face the latter half (“fall” and “winter” — my gradual decline and eventual, unavoidable death) with big questions and mixed feelings about “What happens next?”
Mostly, this mini-movie showcases some of my favorite moments and places, all of which were filmed this summer here in Arkansas, “The Natural State.” In fact, a great deal of it was filmed on my own property. Yes, I even have a mini-blueberry farm right in my own back yard! 🫐 ❤️
I wanted to focus on small, lovely details and the magical quality of all that exists in nature, because one should notice and soak up everything possible during their short time in this world. “Mid-life” doesn’t have to be sad…but it IS serious, something to be pondered greatly. And the older you get, the more precious it all becomes to you — or it should.
Be FULLY immersed in the “summer” of your life…or whatever season you happen to be in. Then let go with fondness, gratitude, and grace, and turn to face the next season with enthusiasm, curiosity, and joy. There are so many more adventures to be had, and there is much more beauty to encounter…✨

And to close out this blog,
I’ll include a few random photos/memories
from my summer, 2021…

…and every single one of the above photos was taken in my backyard/on my property as well! 💕
I hope you enjoy my new YouTube movie,
and I’ll see you next season! 😉
Warmly,
Jenn
